Seda Privacy Notice
Beta version — last updated October 18, 2026
Seda is a shared-household app for roommates: splitting bills, tracking who
owes whom, chores, shopping lists and household info. It's currently in a
private beta run by Makayla Harman ("I", "me"). This notice explains what the
app collects, who can see it, and how to get it deleted.
Questions or requests: sedaappbeta@gmail.com
What Seda collects
Your account
- Email address and display name (from sign-up, or from Google if you use "Continue with Google"). If you sign up with email, your password is handled by Supabase's authentication service; I can't see it.
- Optional profile photo, timezone, notification preferences, and payment handles you choose to add (for example a Venmo username).
- When you were last active in the app.
What you put in your household
- Bills, shared purchases, splits, payments and the ledger.
- Chores and rotations, away periods, shopping list, calendar events, notes.
- Items you list, and photos of items and receipts.
- Emergency contacts you add (name, relationship, phone, email, notes).
Feedback you send
- The message, the type, your app version and platform, and an optional screenshot you choose to attach. Whether you're happy to be contacted about it is up to you.
Technical data
- A push-notification token for your device, so the app can notify you.
- Crash reports (device model, OS version, app version, what failed) so I can fix bugs. These are collected automatically in release builds.
- Usage analytics: which screens you open and which actions you take (for example "added a bill"), tied to an anonymous account ID rather than your name or email, and never including household content or amounts. I use it to see where people get stuck. It is on by default; you can turn it off any time in Profile → Privacy → Share usage data.
Seda does not collect your location, contacts, or advertising ID, and does not use advertising trackers. Analytics is configured without advertising-ID support.
Who can see it
- Your housemates can see everything in your household: the ledger, bills, chores, items and photos, shopping list, notes, calendar, your name and photo, and the emergency contacts and payment handles you add. Only add information you're comfortable sharing with the people you live with.
- Me, as the developer, can access the database for support and to fix bugs. I only look at household content when needed to diagnose a problem, and I read the feedback you send.
- Nobody outside your household can see your household's data. Photos are stored in a private bucket, not public links.
- I don't sell your data and don't share it for advertising.
Services that process your data
Seda runs on these providers, which handle data on my behalf under their own
privacy terms:
- Supabase: database, sign-in, file storage.
- Google / Firebase: push notifications (Cloud Messaging), crash reports (Crashlytics), usage analytics (Firebase Analytics), beta distribution (App Distribution, which uses your email to send the install link), and Google sign-in if you choose it.
Seda records who owes whom. It doesn't move money. Payments happen in
Venmo, Zelle, cash or wherever you choose.
Keeping and deleting your data
- Delete your account any time: Profile → Delete account. There's a 30-day window where you can change your mind. After that, your name, contact info, photo and payment handles are permanently removed, and your emergency contacts and personal items are deleted.
- What stays: past transactions stay in the ledger under "former roommate" so your housemates' balances remain correct.
- Leaving a household removes your personal items after 30 days; your transactions stay for the same reason.
- Empty households are deleted: once everyone has left a household, or it has been closed, it and all its records (bills, transactions, chores and so on) are permanently deleted after 30 days. Nobody can get back into it by then, so there's no one left to see that history.
- If you can't use the app, email me and I'll delete your data by hand.
- Backups and crash reports may take a little longer to age out.
Beta caveats
This is pre-release software. Data may be lost or reset, and I may change how
data is stored while testing. Don't put anything in Seda you couldn't afford
to lose or wouldn't want shared with your housemates.
Age
Seda is for people 18 and older. Don't create an account if you're younger.
Changes
I'll update this notice as the app changes, and I'll update the date above.
Material changes will be announced in the app or by email.
